GTB is an aggregator — a digital marketplace that connects a passenger with a driver for the purpose of transportation. The journey itself is provided by the driver, not by us. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 1(b)]
2. What we collect
2.1 If you ride with us
Account details — your name, mobile number and email address.
Location — your pickup and drop points, and your device location while the app is in use, so we can find you a nearby car, show driver arrival, and follow the trip.
Trip records — date and time, origin and destination, route taken, the driver and vehicle assigned, and the fare collected. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 9(5)]
Payment information — the method used and the outcome of each payment. Full card details are handled by our payment gateway and are not stored on our systems.
KYC — where you use ride pooling, we hold identity details for you and for the riders you are matched with; pooling is offered only between riders whose KYC we hold. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 11(1)]
Ratings and complaints — what you rate a driver, and anything you report to us about a ride.
Device and app data — device identifiers, app version, and diagnostic logs.
2.2 If you drive with us
Driver onboarding is governed by the guidelines, and the records below are ones we are required to hold and keep current: [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 7(1) and 7(2)(h)]
A photograph of the driver.
Driving licence, and a badge where one applies.
Proof of identity — EPIC, AADHAAR or PAN.
Present residential address, with proof.
Bank account details meeting Reserve Bank of India KYC norms.
Contact details and addresses of two members of the driver's family.
The outcome of the police verification carried out before onboarding.
The outcome of the medical examination, including the eye test, arranged and paid for by us.
Vehicle records — registration, fitness, permit, chassis and engine numbers, insurance and Pollution Under Control certificate.
Device location (including in the background / when the app is closed or not in active use) — The GO TB Partner app collects precise location data from the driver's device to enable nearby ride request matching, navigation, real-time trip tracking for passenger safety, and accurate fare calculation even when the app is minimised or running in the background while the driver is online/on-duty.
Live vehicle location while logged in, from the AIS 140 tracking unit fitted to the vehicle.
Training, rating and trip records, and hours logged.
3. Why we use it
To match you with a driver, run the trip, navigate routes, and calculate and collect the fare.
To keep riders and drivers safe — driver identity checks, panic alerts to our control room, monitoring that the vehicle follows the assigned route.
To handle complaints and support requests.
To meet the conditions of our aggregator licence, and to answer lawful requests from the Transport Department and other government agencies.
To detect and prevent fraud and misuse.
4. Where your data is stored
Data generated in the GTB app is stored on a server located in West Bengal. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 9(4)]
5. How long we keep it
App data: at least 3 months and at most 24 months from the date it is generated. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 9(4)]
Your trip and fare history: visible to you and to the driver in the app for at least 3 months after the trip. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 9(5)]
Driver training records: kept for at least one year. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 7(2)(c)]
Financial records: trip, payment and invoice records are retained for as long as tax and transport law requires, which may be longer than the periods above.
Records connected to an open complaint, dispute or investigation are kept until it closes.
6. Who we share it with
We do not disclose any data relating to a customer to anyone other than law enforcement agencies without that customer's written consent. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 9(4)]
Within that rule, information is shared as follows:
Your driver sees what is needed to complete the trip — your first name, pickup and drop points, and your contact through the app.
You see the driver's photograph, name, vehicle and registration number, and the driver's direct contact number for at least 24 hours after the ride. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 9(9) and 9(13)(a)]
The Transport Department and other government agencies — data is made available as and when required under our licence, including live data needed to monitor compliance. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 9(4) and 5(6)]
Law enforcement agencies — we provide data retrieval facilities as required, and cooperate fully with investigating authorities in any incident affecting a rider's safety. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 9(6) and 9(14)]
Service providers — payment gateways, SMS and notification providers, and mapping services, each limited to what they need to perform that function.
Anyone you choose — when you share your live location and ride status from the app. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 9(8)]
We do not sell or rent your personal or location data to third parties.
7. Your choices
Location: you can turn location permission off in your device settings, but the app cannot book a ride without it.
Driver Location: drivers can choose to go offline at any time. When offline, location tracking is stopped.
Sharing a trip: live location sharing is yours to start and stop.
Women-only pooling: when booking a pooled ride you may choose to be matched only with other female passengers. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 11(2)]
Deleting your account: use Delete Account in the app, or visit https://gotravelbuddies.in/en/delete-account. Your profile, saved places and sign-in access are removed and you are signed out on every device. Completed trip and payment records are retained as described in section 5.
Access and correction: write to our Grievance Officer at the address in section 10.
8. Security
Vulnerabilities found in the app are disclosed to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), formed under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 9(3)]
The safety of the app is certified by a recognised cyber security firm. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 9(3)]
Traffic between the apps and our servers is encrypted, and access to personal data inside the company is limited to staff who need it for their work.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
9. Children
GTB is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly create accounts for children, and we delete any we find.
10. Grievances and contact
Our call centre operates 24×7 in English, Bengali and Hindi, for riders and drivers alike. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 9(13)]

Where the complaint is criminal in nature the window extends to 72 hours, and the driver concerned is taken off the platform until the matter is resolved. [ODTTA Guidelines, clause 9(13)(b)]

We update this policy when the way we handle data changes, or when the rules governing us do. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes are notified in the app.
